Paddy Power has angered people with this 'tasteless' joke about UK immigrants

Unusual for them, really.

PADDY POWER IS at it again.

These sponsored trucks were spotted driving around the ferry ports in Dover early this morning:

Immigrants, jump in the back! (But only if you’re good at sport.)

The betting company is no stranger to shock marketing attempts, and this ad ticked everyone off – with many saying it was a “tasteless” attack on migrants.

In a blog on the Paddy Power website, Aidan Elder explained that the ad was meant to highlight the ‘double standards’ in the English public’s view of immigrants.

Elder named Mo Farah, Andy Murray, Raheem Sterling and Irish cricketer Eoin Morgan as some of the ‘foreign’ sportsmen who represent the country.

Lots of people are keen to stop migrants arriving in England, but at the same time will cheer on high calibre athletes representing their country, even if those athletes aren’t actually from their country.

He even gets a dig in at Ireland, the scamp:

That’s what we would call a ‘quandary’ – or if you’re from Ireland – ‘supporting the national football team for most of the 80s and 90s.

Watch out everyone. Paddy Power stunt ads are now reaching for deeper commentary on social issues. Who’s gonna be next?
